❓ FAQ & Connection Help
Having trouble with chat rooms, cams, or the site acting up? Most issues come down to browser settings, extensions, or your network — not the site itself. Work through these and you'll fix the vast majority of problems.
🎥 My camera or microphone won't turn on
- Grant permission: click the 🔒/camera icon in your browser's address bar and set Camera + Microphone to Allow for this site, then reload.
- Close other apps using the camera (Zoom, Teams, OBS, another browser tab) — only one app can use it at a time.
- Pick the right device: if you have multiple cameras/mics, choose the correct one in the room's device settings.
- HTTPS required: cams only work over a secure
https://connection. If you're onhttp://, that's the problem. - Try a different browser: a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Very old browsers don't support WebRTC.
🔌 The tab freezes, my cam drops, or I get disconnected
- Hardware acceleration: in your browser settings, toggle "Use hardware acceleration" (try it both on and off) and restart the browser — this is the #1 cause of cam freezes.
- Too many tabs/extensions: close unused tabs and pause heavy extensions; video chat is memory-hungry.
- Update your browser and your graphics drivers.
- Weak Wi-Fi: move closer to the router or use a wired connection. A flaky signal drops video first.
- Restart: fully quit the browser (not just the tab) and reopen. When in doubt, reboot the computer.
🧩 Browser extensions & ad-blockers
- Ad-blockers / privacy extensions (uBlock, AdBlock, Privacy Badger, Ghostery) and script blockers (NoScript) can break chat, cams and notifications. Whitelist this site or disable them here.
- VPNs & proxies can block the peer-to-peer connection cams need. Try turning yours off to test.
- Antivirus / firewall "web shields" sometimes block WebRTC — add an exception for your browser.
- Test in a private/incognito window with extensions disabled — if it works there, an extension is the culprit.
🍪 Cookies, cache & logins
- Allow cookies for this site — they're required to stay logged in.
- Clear your cache if pages look broken or outdated after an update (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R for a hard reload).
- "Block third-party cookies" set too strict can log you out repeatedly — add this site as an exception.
- Disable "clear cookies on exit" for this site if you don't want to log in every visit.
💻 PC / device settings
- OS privacy settings: on Windows (Settings → Privacy → Camera/Microphone) and macOS (System Settings → Privacy & Security) make sure your browser is allowed to use the camera and mic.
- Date & time: a wrong system clock breaks secure connections — set it to update automatically.
- Low power mode on laptops/phones can throttle video — plug in or disable it for smooth cams.
- Mobile: use the latest Chrome (Android) or Safari (iOS); some in-app browsers (inside other apps) don't support cams.
🔊 I can't hear room sounds or audio
- Browsers block autoplay audio until you interact with the page — click anywhere and it'll start.
- Check the tab isn't muted (right-click the tab → Unmute) and your system volume is up.
- Make sure the correct output device (speakers/headphones) is selected in your OS.
